Reminder: Art and Poetry event: Wednesday, April 7, 5-7 p.m.

The focus of this event is an exhibit of the capstone art project of Katie Coykendall (HNU 2010), but we encourage faculty, students, staff, and alumnae who would like to exhibit art or read poetry to contact the library (hnulibrary@hnu.edu) to sign up. We have already lined up Martivon Galindo and Anastasia Prentiss, who will be respectively reading and performing interpretative dance.

If you’d like to participate in the reading, you can read your own poetry, or the poetry of others. It is even rumored Phillis Wheatley will be making an appearance. Plan for a five-minute slot.

Wine and nibblies will be served!

Reminder: Chips and Dips Celebration: Dip Contest, Library Open House, and barbecue!

On Tuesday, April 20, from 12:00-2 p.m., the Library is holding a celebration for its recent spiffing-up and other improvements.

  • The dip contest begins at 12 noon. (See  the Library Dip Contest Registration Form) Bring quarters and an appetite!
  • An all-campus barbecue starts at 12:30 on the patio. Yummo!
  • The dip contest will be judged at 1:30, and the first-ever Golden Dipper award announced soon after.
  • During all this fun, we will hold demonstrations of our cutting-edge RFID technology and tours of the amazing renovations by Campus Services!

Refworks Demo

Have you yearned for an easy web-based tool to organize the many citations you collect as you work on papers, theses, and so forth? Then come to the Library classroom next Tuesday, April 6, 12:30-1:30 and see how RefWorks can make your life easier. If we get enough interest in this product it will be a strong contender for a new resource for this fall.

We will serve energy bars and beverages.
