LAST CALL ON LIBRARY LPs

Get them through Sunday, May 9! After that, off they go.  They’re in the library lobby.

For those who asked what an LP is, it’s a long-playing record–a recording format that was in widespread use for 40 years, until the arrival of compact discs in the late 1980s.

A little more about LPs:

LP: “A 12-inch vinyl phonographic disc with a playing speed of 33⅓ r.p.m.” — Oxford Music, a library database

“The first million-selling LP in the United States was the cast recording of Oklahoma! in 1949.” — Continuum Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World, part of the Library’s Credo database

A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

Students enjoying BBQ break from final exams

Thanks to Dave Evans and his team at Epicurean and Luis Guerra and his team at Campus Services for our wonderful outdoor barbecue event.

People were able to relax between studying and writing, get a little time in the sun on a beautiful day, and share time with one another over delicious grilled hamburgers, veggie burgers, and barbecued chicken.

Thank you for your support of Cushing Library, and good luck to students as they head into final exams and papers! See more pictures from this event here.
