Thanks to Christiana Hargrave!

Christiana was our debut pianist, and graced our February 24 Cushing Salon with a lovely prelude performance. If you have gifts in this area you’d like to share with the library — how about a lunchtime brown-bag recital? — drop us a line.

Upcoming Cushing Salon Events

All are “RWBS” (Refreshments Will Be Served). Everyone welcome: faculty, students, staff, alums, and the community.

“The Oracles of Delphi and Dodona: Ancient Sites of Women’s Wisdom and Gods’ Prophecy,” a talk by Dr. Marguerite Rigoglioso

Wednesday, April 6, 5-6 p.m., in the Events lounge.

In ancient times, priestesses delivered the wisdon of the deities. In this provocative talk, author Marguerite Rigoglioso reveals the fascinating operations of the oracles and Delphi and Dodona in ancient Greece, exploring how women functioned as the most famous psychics and channelers of all times.

Sponsored by Professor Truxler and Salazar’s Integrative Studies Across Cultures Course ISAC 101: The Ancient World.

NEW! “Transformational Art: The Beauty of Mathematical Mapping,” a talk by Professor Ian Sammis.

Thursday, April 14, 5-6 p.m. in the Glass Lounge.

Expect a lively and learned talk from Professor Sammis, whose fascinating artwork was featured in a recent faculty colloquium. Professor Sammis’ colorful work will be on exhibit all spring in the library’s Lower Level, enlivening the spaces between the study desks facing the perimeter road. Watch for an announcement that the art is up for viewing!
